Merry Christmas

The real title of this post should be Merry Christmas to me !!!!!!

I bought myself a new camera for Christmas. My little KODAK Easy Share (my introduction to digital), which I bought in 2009 has served me well. The only real complaint I had with it was that the date was never set properly. Every time I turned on the camera to shoot, the date started at Jan. 1 2007. And since Kodak is no more there was no tech support to help me. All the pics that I have taken for this blog were taken with my little Kodak.

I have been seriously camera shopping for over a year. I had been strongly leaning toward the Sony a6000, and finally found it in this sharp gray color. The color of the camera can only matter to an artist.

One feature that attracted me to this camera was the tilting screen which arrows the photographer to shoot from different angles without glare. Of course it has interchangeable lenses as well.

So far I have only managed to charge the battery. I have a big trip planned for late summer of 2017, so I have time to learn how to use it.

Be prepared to see pics from this camera on this blog soon!

Color of the Week

Blue Bags

An opportunity at church to replenish the local food bank brought a great response.
It also provided a great eye catching event.
I love the play of light & shadow.

A day of counting your blessings & having a heart overflowing with gratitude for each one of them.
This pic makes me thankful for all this color.

Day of the Dead

There is a fabulous Day of the Dead festival in Tulsa every year at the Living Arts Center.
                        Music, Food & Art.

Here are some images from last evening's celebration.

The displays of all the altars is the most fun part for me. All the colors & patterns; so many creative ways to celebrate life.

Remember September

Here's my submission to Remember September for 2016.
Of course because 9/11 was on a Sunday this year it didn't get postmarked until 9/12. But postage was a new Star Trek stamp.

Matisse

Reclining Matisse

Reclining Model
Matisse in his time
at the Oklahoma City Art Museum

Matisse: I love his boldness of colors,  patterns & shapes.
But I was disappointed with this show; there wasn't enough Matisse.
Matisse in his time meant Matisse & his friends.
The show would have been better named "Matisse Lite" or "Matisse & his Cronies"
It always surprises me how much they copied each other, oh, excuse me, inspired each other.

Happy Independence Day

This display greeted me as I walked into My Papa's Barn in Broken Arrow on Friday.

It really gets you in the mood for all the Fourth of July fun that we can enjoy today.

Have a happy & safe day!!!!!!!!!!

The first weekend in June
is the annual time for Sunfest: the arts, crafts, music, food, & beginning of the summer gathering. And with the temperature in the 80's made it feel like summer. We had our April showers in May along with mild temps. But today may be the start of a hot summer.

I met two new potters today: Janelle and Sheetal. Janelle likes to create design & texture by carving into leather hard clay. Sheetal is combining some wonderful glazes.

An early morning Memorial Day observance at our city cemetery (White Rose). A gathering of people giving honor to those who defended our freedom and remembering family members who were loved. Always appropriate the patriotic colors of : red, white, & blue.
