Van Gogh continued

The challenge: paint a portrait of Vincent van Gogh.
This really isn't what I do, so I am out of my comfort zone, but I'll give it a try.

This is what I'm working from.

Here is stage one.

Here is where I'm at now.
Believe me, an artist is more critical of her work than anyone.
This painting has a long way to go before I will be happy with it.
I can't believe I'm exposing myself like this.

Mah Jongg & Art

Mah Jongg & art (two things I love) were combined at the Second Annual B'nai Emunah Sisterhood's Mah Jongg Tournament & fund raiser for the Tulsa Girls Art School. TGAS ushers girls, grades 3- 12, through a creative program of developing life skills. The girls get to express themselves through art, and many paintings were on exhibit to display their talents.

The one below was in the foyer to welcome us. I love the bold colors.

The Great Outdoors

The Lyons Gallery is filled with Impressionist style paintings by David Lawrence Cade. Come during the month of January & enjoy a room full of landscapes.

This is my favorite. I like the way he painted the palm trees.

Goal # 1

In order to produce art you must have a place to comfortably work.

Goal # 1: An uncluttered art table.

It surprises me that it takes me so much less time to break down my table surface & then set it up again than I think it will.

 *Remove everything
 *put on new plastic cloth
 *replace the masonite board
 *return tools within easy reach

No more fighting with my work space; I can create with pleasure.

Celebrate Art!

Around the world people have been celebrating the coming of 2019.

I am particularly thankful for every day of making art & living in a great country where being creative is encouraged.

Have you set some art goals for the year? Something to consider. Paintings you're longing to finish, galleries where you desire to see your work displayed, competitions you want to enter. 2019 could be the year you see these things happen. Set goals, make contacts, follow through; that's the plan for 2019.
