Writers who make art

Yesterday's post was a self portrait by Sylvia Plath. Sylvia is one of many writers who made art, mounted exhibits, and were represented by galleries. Words and pictures just naturally go together.

Quote of the Week

"There is no progress in art, any more than there is progress in making love. There are simply different ways of doing it." Man Ray

A word about chairs

I find chairs interesting and have featured pics of chairs in this blog. In 2010 I was talking to a SCAD student (that's Savannah College of Art & Design) and told him that if I had the money I would collect chairs. "What's so fascinating about chairs?"  he asked. Well, I consider them wonderful pieces of sculpture; pieces of sculpture that are also functional. They can be fashioned out of so many different materials. Some chairs are so unique that they make you wonder how you could sit in them.
Chairs. Here is a subject that I could explore on this blog for many posts to come. And actually I've come to realize that along with the money to collect chairs, I would also need the space to display them.
