What an appropriate color! But True, what are you thinking? A Poinsettia on Valentine's!
Like I said, an appropriate color. I bought this in early December from the first shipment into the store. It has not lost one leaf & I'm still enjoying it every day.
The cards are store bought. I didn't feel inspired to design my own.
This guy turned out rather "funky" with his green face. This was a little different process for me. I used a lower fire clay & glaze, and I painted the glaze on while the clay was at the leather hard stage. Then the clay was allowed to fully harden before firing, so clay & glaze fired all at once. Now I know this works.
Now I'm wondering if I should try something like these Mexican masks next.
This is the first mask I've made in four years. He/she is in the kiln as I write this. I found a local ceramic studio that was willing to work with me on some experimental pieces. This is the leather hard stage & I put the glaze on at this stage & then let it completely dry. I'm wondering what will happen.
Have you ever found a Chinese New Year card in the store? Maybe you haven't had a reason to look. I would like to find one, but without success. So I make one to send to one special person. This year it's Year of the Rooster, so with a little water color, some cutting & pasting (literal) this card was ready to send.
Lyons Gallery is the place in Bartlesville to see great art. This month the featured artist is Rod Bailey. He always manages to fill the gallery with paintings that capture the landscape of Oklahoma and beyond. Today when I went to take these shots, I found the gallery set up for a wedding. The seating arrangement made it a challenge to get the shots I wanted. I'll go back next week when the chairs are gone.
I have two passions in my life: the Word of God and Art. I am basically a self-taught artist, but take every opportunity to learn from others. I love acrylics and usually work in mixed media collage, but my latest experiments are with ceramic masks.
