National Quilting Day

Quilting is such a wonderful art form; I'm glad that it's recognized with its own day. This is one I found at a holiday house tour. What caught my eye was the great color & the interesting variation on the log cabin design.

Quilt Show

Quilters showing off their talents in Dewey, OK.

Always a visual feast to attend a quilt show.
As I've said before: a quilt is a fabric collage.

I love the bold colors in this "graphic" quilt.

All the symbols of the great state of Oklahoma.

A fun variation of a log cabin pattern.

                       A beautiful flower garden.

Tattoos are all the rage.

As usual, I picked quilts that I like & would photograph well.

The Art of the Quilt

A great way to spend part of a weekend is to visit a Quilt Show. The local quilt guild organizes one of these wonderfully creative events every two years.

The show includes venders with the latest quilting gadgets and scads of fabric, demonstrations, lectures, workshops, door prizes, and the best part, colorful & creative quilts.

Here is my friend Beth among a garden of Irises. Beth & I cemented our friendship back in 2003 when we worked on a quilt show committee in Broken Arrow. Neither of us are quilt makers, but we sure are quilt lovers.

A prize winning quilt & it's prize winning creator, Ethel.
Ethel is my neighbor and will celebrate her 90th birthday at the end of the month. I believe she must work on quilts everyday.

Why do I love quilts?
For me they are like fabric collages. Great combinations of color & patterns that make fabulous works of art.

I Love Quilts

Quilt by: Diana Lawrence

Look at the colors on this one; aren't they great! It was made by Diana the quilter; Diana is also the gardener. But today I display her quilting skills. The pattern is interesting and makes me think Amish; does anyone know if it is or not?

Quilts are such wonderful works of art: the patterns, the colors, the textures! To me they are fabric collages. And then we can curl up in them and stay warm; what could be better than curling up in a work of art?

Quilt

Quilts, I consider them fabric collages. This is a great example of the color that I love. The pattern: Orion Star, done in batik fabrics by Joan Davis. Delicious!
