Matte Medium, how do I love you, let me count the ways: *You are a great glue for light weight paper. Just this morning I was assembling journal pages & you were my glue of choice. I applied you with a foam brush, & pages came together quickly. *You are a great sealer. After gluing down paper, a thin layer of MM over the top will seal it. And once dry, paint or pencils can be used over the top. *You are a friend to water soluble crayons & pencils. You can be used over the top & they turn into paint. And after playing with the "paint" it is also sealed. *You turn powered or pure pigment into paint; O the color possibilities!
Contact www.ihanna.nu/postcard-swap for the Spring Postcard Swap. Deadline: May 26th. I found hanna on You Tube, and was delighted that I had time to participate in her spring swap. Months ago I started making postcards. It was a project that I could work on in the wee hours of the morning when I'm wide awake. I used 140 cold pressed watercolor paper. The "frames" around the edge of each card are collages of prints and magazine pages. This is the way Teesha Moore starts her journal pages. It's an easy way to set a color pallet. Then I put down a layer of free form watercolor. This gave me a great base to make my compositions.
This is not a paid endorsement it is a simple fact: I use Tacky glue. When I want a quick solid stick When using heavy & heavily textured paper When sticking down multiple layers on a mixed media piece When reenforcing a tag or postcard with a second layer I can count on Tacky to do the job.
This week I used my Hobby Lobby 40% off coupon to buy the 16 oz. bottle.
The Yellow Chair finds a home in a corner of the sunroom, along with Van Gogh and "Starry Night Sunflowers", a painting by Valerie Jones. I hope the chair will be happy here. I'm certainly happy to have it; I can enjoy it everyday.
I have two passions in my life: the Word of God and Art. I am basically a self-taught artist, but take every opportunity to learn from others. I love acrylics and usually work in mixed media collage, but my latest experiments are with ceramic masks.
