Johannes Vermeer
1632-1675
Author Susan Vreeland likes to write historical fiction about artists. Her best selling Girl in Hyacinth Blue spins a tale of a fictitious Vermeer painting and its owners. I had to read it a second time once I rediscovered Vermeer.
Then I found a film version (a DVD at the library) called Brush with Fate staring Glen Close. It follows this captivating painting and all its secrets from the artist's studio to the 20th century.
Susan's stories are always well researched, so you get a good picture to the artist & his/her place in history.
