Expressionism

Look how this wonky cactus is expressing itself.

It must be the hand painted pot.

Andy Warhol

Happy Birthday Andy Warhol (1928-1987)

Andy entered the "Pop Art" scene of the 1960's and made us look at ordinary objects in a new way.

Birdie Made It

Yes, Birdie at Recycled Hippy Chicks made this slow stitched journal cover. I saw her working on it on her you tube channel, and knew it was just what my latest journal needed.

Front top; back bottom.

My journal is a hard cover journal 71/2" x 9". I machine stitched pockets to each end of the fabric cover so that it could slip onto the hard cover. I added a tie closure made from the binding of a repurposed quilt.

Doesn't it look great; I love it!

Quote of the Week

"If I were called upon to define briefly the word 'Art', I should call it the reproduction of what the senses perceive in nature, seen through the veil of the soul."  Paul Cezanne

Quote of the Week

"A photograph is not only an image...an interpretation of the real; it is also a trace of something directly stenciled off the real, like a footprint or a death mask."

#paperterraceDTJJ

Jessica at paper terrace put out a challenge: make a journal from Dollar Tree supplies.

Actually I had no intension of participating, but on a trip to Dollar Tree I spotted the Flamingo padded mailer (how cute is that) & I was hooked.

The rules were to use Dollar Tree supplies that could only total $20 ( approx. 16 items). I bought the mailer & then pulled out 11 Dollar Tree items from my stash.

The cover is backed with fabric and quilted. I'm pleased with how it turned out.

The theme is "color". I wanted to use colored paper for the pages, but it was just too flimsy, so I used it to decorate the white mixed media pages.

The journal is full of colorful pockets, tucks, flips, belly bands, & tags.

Thanks Jessica for a fun challenge!

Did You See This?

The Price Tower is the place to go for art. And Jon Lindblom is the OK artist who has his art on display (and for sale) this month.
