I had a chance to "be crafty". It was an offer I couldn't refuse, because it involved painting, and I am happiest with a paint brush in my hand. It happened last Saturday at the Ceramic Cottage in Tulsa. It was painting glaze on ceramics and using rubber stamps as well. How fun!
The ceramic gourd above is in the bisque stage: poured & then fired. The gourd below now covered with three coats of glaze in three colors.
Gourd was then stamped with darker glaze and then multi-color areas were painted on top. After firing the one on the right should look similar to the one one the left. But with glazes there is always an element of surprise.
Here are acorn birdhouses done with the same technique.
I have two passions in my life: the Word of God and Art. I am basically a self-taught artist, but take every opportunity to learn from others. I love acrylics and usually work in mixed media collage, but my latest experiments are with ceramic masks.
